- Frequent consumption of sugary snacks or drinks
- Juice or milk between meals

- Sleeping with a bottle containing milk or juice
- Deep grooves in molars that trap food and plaque
Even when a child has good brushing habits and does not have all of these risk factors, cavities can still develop due to natural differences in enamel strength and bacterial activity.

- A pulpotomy (baby root canal) if the inner nerve tissue is affected
- Tooth extraction if the tooth cannot be saved
